THORNTON Hall and Lodge celebrated their first birthdays in style with a big party and Christmas lights switch-on this week.
On Monday residents were joined by their families at the homes on Tanhouse Road for mulled wine, mince pies and festive fun and games.
A choir from Hillside High School paid a visit and entertained everyone with a selection of festive favourites.
And the Salvation Army also dropped in on the party to join with the revellers in their seasonal singalong.
There was even a special puppet show for the youngsters. But the main event was when Thornton Hall and Lodge switched on their Christmas lights.
The honour fell to 92-year-old Ethel Ibbotson, who was very first resident to move into the purpose-built homes when they opened last December.
