"I am writing to let you know just how grateful I am to your nursing and ancillary staff at (St George’s) Hall for the care and support given to (my mother) during her time there…
While I fully support and understand the need for inspections and maintenance of agreed standards in the care sector, I think it is a great pity that the single standard that should concern relatives – the standard of care given directly to the client – cannot be easily defined or measured. If it could be, then there is no doubt in my mind that St George’s Hall would come out as very high indeed.
But even more than this – the staff supported me too, in ways I haven’t the words to describe. They are a special group of people who have touched my life, and I will always be grateful for that. I just wanted you to know personally how I felt. I will have no hesitation in recommending the Hall to anyone who asks. I doubt better care could be provided anywhere."
Mr John Butterfield, 17/11/2009
"On behalf of myself and my wife and family, I would like it to go on record our grateful thanks to Andrea and the team at The Sycamores, Norton Road, Wakefield, for the excellent care and attention they gave to my mother Elizabeth Scott during her stay at the home. They ensured that she was happy and comfortable and enjoyed her meals, something she has always remarked on to visitors."
Mr Malcolm R Scott, 21/07/09
"I write on behalf of all our family to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful care given to my Aunt Gwen Metcalfe... Your staff are an absolute credit to Orchard and they cared for her in a way that can only be described as absolutely top class."
Mr Philip Stephenson, 03/07/09
"You may already be aware of the dedicated and caring staff you have at Bywater Lodge, but I felt it appropriate to pass on my admiration and appreciation of them to you, as I am sure you are only too well aware care homes get a lot of bad comments, and only a few good ones.
"Every member of staff, particularly the carers who were obviously involved with my Mum went the extra mile to ensure her time at the Care Home was as comfortable and as happy as possible... I look upon the staff now as close friends and I will always be grateful for everything they did for my Mum and the support given to myself."
Mrs Barbara Jowett, 08/06/09
"My father stayed in Widnes hall (for one week respite care). He had reservations about going there, as he had never been away from his home before, but I must say he was very pleased with the care he received and will return again."
Mrs L Bell, 22/05/09
"I would just like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Barbara (the Manager) Elaine and all the wonderful staff at Widnes Hall for the untiring care and attention my mother received whilst in their care. They treated her with the utmost dignity and respect and compassion. You should be very proud of your staff at the Lodge - they are second to none. They also looked after my wife and I with respect and care."
Mr Barry Rackham, 21/05/09
"My mum only had one week respite in Middlesbrough Grange and she still tells everyone how fantastic it was, she couldn't and wouldn't fault any of her stay there. Every one of your staff was brilliant, courteous, attentive and customer care was exceptional. Your staff work so hard, it is unbelievable. Mum has never been in a care home, but she now says if anything happens to her or me, she has no qualms in going to stay there permanently. Will you please once again pass on our thanks to all the staff there."

"I have wanted for a while to write concerning the care my mum receives at Leeming Bar Grange.
"She recently went through a patch where she was quite poorly, and it was quite difficult to deal with, but I would like to commend your staff for the support they gave my family and me.
"I would particularly like to express my thanks to Debbie Langmaid, the assistant manager, who during this time not only provided us with clear information as to what was happening but was very supportive, even coming in when she was not on duty when things were most difficult for my mother. Even now Debbie is very clear in her communication with me regarding my mother’s situation, which makes it so much easier for me to deal with.
"Two other members of staff I would also like to mention... are Jo. a senior carer who also came in when she was off duty as Debbie did, and Rebecca (Becky). These have demonstrated such a genuine and sincere caring attitude that I have been deeply touched and would like to express my thanks to these also.
"It is true that any organisation is only as good as the people that it has. I feel that these employees show that this is not just a job for them but that they really care and they are a credit to your organisation."
Mrs Joan Smith, 18/05/09
"My husband was in Scarborough Lodge... he was loved and treated with dignity and was very happy... all the staff have become friends and I’m going back as a volunteer. Your care homes are the way forward for dementia care and I’m glad I found you to take care of Ken, life is easier for relatives when they can see how well their loved ones are being cared for."
Mrs Sue Jordan, 05/09
"I feel I must write and compliment you on Longridge Lodge. Unfortunately my husband has dementia but I feel privileged that he was able to get a place in one of your homes. The staff were so kind and caring. The place is spotless and doesn’t smell and the residents are treated with respect, kindness and care."
Mrs Pat Rhodes, 24/03/09
"I felt I must write to say how impressed I am by the care you have given to my mother since she came to Fleetwood Hall... At all times, I am kept in touch with what is happening and am always made to feel welcome when I visit; nothing is too much trouble in terms of giving time to talk and, of course, making a lovely cup of coffee! At the end of one visit, I was upset and there was a shoulder to cry on in the foyer as I left... I find all your staff cheerful, friendly and genuinely caring- as though this is something more than a job to them.
"I would recommend Fleetwood Hall to anyone... mum being with you eases these worries enormously. I could not ask for more. Thank you so much for all you and your staff do - I am heartened by your care and concern for mum and for me."
Kath Seredyn, 02/02/09
"We hear bad reports regarding the quality of care homes generally in the press and media, my experience with Orchard Care Homes has been quite the opposite. I would like to put on record my appreciation of all the loving care the staff at Priestley Care Home have shown to my mum during her years there, they have done an absolutely wonderful job. My thanks to each and everyone of the staff."
Mr D Brown, 30/01/09
"Many people would only write to you to make a complaint; in my case it is to compliment you on having a first class, front facing honest ambassador, who overflows with her enthusiasm and commitment to your company... although only there for a short time, the standard and professionalism of your staff was nothing short of brilliant and highlighted ‘that personal touch’ every single person we came into contact with, even down to the young lady that cleaned her room were both pleasant, professional and committed to the care of the residents, nothing was too much trouble
You have a highly committed workforce that goes that extra mile to ensure that anyone in your care has a feeling of a home from home and are treated with dignity and respect and you are a very lucky company having this ethos that can not be bought, but can only come from within."
Mr Mike Theaker and family, 13/01/09
