09 February 2016 News
A new role of Director of Nursing is created for the first time at Orchard Care Homes, a leading provider of residential elderly and specialist care, with homes across the UK. Lorraine Lee, a registered nurse for nearly forty years, joins the company to drive nursing initiatives forward and look at recruitment and retention of nursing staff across the Group’s 100+ care homes. Lorraine has previously held roles including Regional Operations Director for Barchester, Company Director at Independent Living Group & Ansel Ltd, Hospital Director with Care Principles, Training Manager and Clinical Manager with Partnerships in care as well as working in the NHS as a Ward Sister and Staff Nurse.  Lorraine has a Batchelor of Science Degree with Honours in Nursing Studies, a Certificate in Education and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Comments Lorraine; “My passion is about developing nurses and I’m excited to be joining such a forward thinking care group as Orchard. I’ve worked across many care sectors, including children, forensic services, mental health, high dependency units, as well as the elderly care sectors, picking up skills and experience along the way, and it’s here, in this challenging care home environment, that I really feel that I can make a difference.” Lorraine’s first job is to focus on supporting Orchard nursing staff with their revalidation process to the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ahead of the compulsory portfolio of evidence date in April. She is then looking at ways to develop and build on the care practitioner leading to nurse associate roles.
